Reduce Stress and Stay Safe With These Holiday Travel Tips

Holiday travel is one of the biggest sources of stress for California families.  But it doesn’t have to be.  By planning ahead, you can make a holiday car trip less stressful as you get to where you’re going safely.  Whether you’re trying to navigate holiday traffic at the mall or are planning on a coast-to-coast road adventure, help protect yourself and those you love with these tips from the American Automobile Association (AAA):

  • Buckle up! Your seat belt is one of the easiest ways to reduce the risk of serious car accident injuries – but it only works if you use it.  Require your passengers to buckle up as well.
  • Plan ahead. Know your route before you leave the house.  Check local news stations for reports on construction, traffic, and other road hazards, so you can avoid getting stuck.
  • Leave plenty of extra time. When you don’t feel rushed, it’s easier to drive defensively, avoid speeding, and to pay attention to your surroundings, all of which can help you avoid an accident.
  • Avoid distractions. Avoid using your cell phone while driving.  If you use a GPS system, program your route in before you start the car, so you can focus on driving instead of planning.  If you have young passengers, bring along quiet toys to keep them occupied so that you can pay attention to traffic.

If you’re injured in a car accident this holiday season, don’t hesitate to contact an experienced California car accident lawyer for help protecting your legal rights.
